Summary
Your MyUNLV password will expire periodically, or anytime a new password is requested. When this happens, you will need to change it.
Body
When signing in to MyUNLV, you may receive a Your Password Has Expired message. Your MyUNLV password will expire periodically, or will be expired anytime you change your password (either self-service, or though the IT Help Desk). You will receive a message like this:
Updating an Expired Password
If you receive the password expired message, select Click here to change your password.
Some customers may see the message An error has occurred. If this happens, don't click any links.
- Close the tab or window that you had MyUNLV open.
- Open an Incognito or Private Browsing window
- Go to my.unlv.edu (don't search for MyUNLV).
- Enter your NSHE ID as your username.
- Copy and paste your temporary password from your email, or enter the password given by the IT Help Desk.
- The password expiration message should appear again. Click the link to change your password.
You will then be prompted to change your password:
- The Current Password will be the password sent to you via email, or given by the IT Help Desk.
- Select a New Password, then enter it again in Confirm Password.
- Your password cannot be a password you used before
- Your password must meet the requirements listed on screen
- Review your security question. If it is blank or you would like to change it:
- Select the Magnifying glass, then select a question from the list. Don't enter your own question.
- Enter your answer in the Response field.
- Select Change Password
