Turnitin (Plagiarism Detection Tool)

Turnitin is a plagiarism prevention tool available in WebCampus. Instructors have two options for using Turnitin in WebCampus:

  1. Turnitin Plagiarism Framework (recommended) that allows instructors to use Canvas' assignment grading features in lieu of Turnitin's Feedback Studio.
  2. Turnitin LTI 1.1 External Tool that allows instructors to use Turnitin's Feedback Studio features for grading and reviewing papers.

Using Turnitin in WebCampus

Using Turnitin outside of WebCampus

If you need to check a student's paper for plagiarism outside of WebCampus, instructors can log in to Turnitin's website.

  1. If you have not done so already, create at least one assignment that uses Turnitin within WebCampus (using the instructons above). This creates an account for you in Turnitin.
  2. Go to the Turnitin login page and select “Forgot your password”.
  3. Enter the UNLV e-mail address associated with your WebCampus account and your Last Name.  To check which UNLV e-mail address is associated with your WebCampus account, go to Account > Settings and your e-mail address will be listed in the upper right-hand corner.
  4. You will receive a temporary password for Turnitin.com in your inbox.
