Dial a Phone Number (Don't Use Dialing Prefix 8)
Summary
This document is a user guide describing how to dial a phone number from a university telephone number in Webex Calling. Dial the phone number. Do no dial 8 before a phone number.
Applies To
UNLV Faculty, Staff, Students, Temporary Employees, Telecom customers, and phone users.
Requirements
The following requirements must be met for the procedure to work correctly:
- A university telephone number in Webex Calling
- Calling capability (ex: local, long distance, international, toll-free)
Procedure
Dialing
- Dial the phone number.
Examples
Dial an Internal Extension
- Dial the five-digit extension.
- Dial 4XXXX or 5XXXX.
- For example, dial 4XXXX instead of 702-774-XXXX.
- Another example is, 5XXXX instead of 702-895-XXXX.
Dial a Local Number
- Dial the ten-digit number.
- For example, dial 7025551212 or 7255551212.
Dial a Domestic Long Distance Number
- Dial 1 followed by the ten-digit number.
- For example, dial 17755551212.
Dial an International Long Distance Number
- Dial 011 followed by the country code, city code, and phone number.
- For example, 011022055551234.
- Another way to dial an international number uses the + (plus sign) instead of 011.
- Press and hold the * key for 2 seconds to enter the + (plus sign).
- Enter the telephone number.
- For example, +022055551234.
Dial a Toll Free Number
Toll-free numbers begin with 800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, or 888.:
- Dial 1-8XX followed by the seven-digit number.
- For example, 18005551212.
