Dial a Phone Number (Don't Use Dialing Prefix 8)

Summary

This document is a user guide describing how to dial a phone number from a university telephone number in Webex Calling.  Dial the phone number. Do no dial 8 before a phone number.

Applies To

UNLV Faculty, Staff, Students, Temporary Employees, Telecom customers, and phone users.

Requirements

The following requirements must be met for the procedure to work correctly:

  • A university telephone number in Webex Calling
  • Calling capability (ex: local, long distance, international, toll-free)

Procedure

Dialing

  1. Dial the phone number.

Examples

Dial an Internal Extension

  1. Dial the five-digit extension.
  2. Dial 4XXXX or 5XXXX.
    1. For example, dial 4XXXX instead of 702-774-XXXX.
    2. Another example is, 5XXXX instead of 702-895-XXXX.

Dial a Local Number

  1. Dial the ten-digit number.
  2. For example, dial 7025551212 or 7255551212.

Dial a Domestic Long Distance Number

  1. Dial 1 followed by the ten-digit number.
  2. For example, dial 17755551212.

Dial an International Long Distance Number

  1. Dial 011 followed by the country code, city code, and phone number.
  2. For example, 011022055551234.
  3. Another way to dial an international number uses the + (plus sign) instead of 011.
    1. Press and hold the * key for 2 seconds to enter the + (plus sign).
    2. Enter the telephone number.
    3. For example, +022055551234.

Dial a Toll Free Number

Toll-free numbers begin with 800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, or 888.:

  1. Dial 1-8XX followed by the seven-digit number.
  2. For example, 18005551212.
