The X and Y drive retain backups for files in the shared drives for up to three weeks. If a file has been accidentally deleted, or you want to revert a file to a previous version, you may be able to restore that file.
Restoring files will replace the current version in the X or Y Drive for all users that have access. All changes made after the version you restore to will not be included in the restored file. If you need to undo a restore, you can simply restore to the second newest version.
This process only works on Windows devices, not macOS devices.
Restoring Individual Files or Folders
You can restore small amounts of data from File Explorer:
- Navigate to the file or folder in the X or Y Drive you want to restore
- Right-click on the file or folder you want to restore
- Select Previous Versions in the tab bar
- Locate the version you wish to restore to
- You can select Open to check to see if this is the desired version
- To restore to that version, select Restore
The file will then restore.
Restoring Large Folders
If you need to restore large quantities of data, you will need to contact the IT Help Desk. The IT Help Desk can submit a request to restore files in mass.
