Manual editing is ideal to change the settings of one specific Activity. Manual editing can also have activity type-specific settings.
Edit an Activity
After you have finished creating an activity, you can edit it to access advanced customization settings. To find these:
- Access the Activities tab on the left-hand navigation

- Here, you will see a list of your activities
- Select the three “more” dots > Edit beside the Activity you want to edit

- Here, you can edit the title, options, timer, response settings, and more. To explore these in-depth, see Options under Edit
- After you have finished making changes, select Save

Options under Edit
Once you are editing the Activity, you have many options to customize it before presenting it to a class meeting.
How People Can Respond
There are two ways that participants can respond: through the web, and through SMS. At least one must be selected so participants can join and respond to the Activity.
Website
If the Website option is selected, participants can either scan a QR code generated by Poll Everywhere or follow a link with the instructor’s username. This also applies if participants have the Poll Everywhere app installed.
SMS
If this option is enabled, participants will text the presenter's username to a provided text message number. This number is provided upon activation of the Activity and depends on your location.
Clickable Image, Q&A, Ranking, Survey, and Competition activity types cannot accept text responses, so students are unable to respond to these if SMS-only is enabled.
Audience Restriction and Identity
There are two options under the “Who Can Participate?” header. Depending on which option you choose, the options under the “How Do You Want to Identify Participants?” header will change.
Everyone
Allows anyone with the instructor’s link or username (if SMS) to join. If you select this option, you can opt to require a screen name for participants when they join the activity.
Restrict to Registered Participants Only
Requires users to log in. If you select this option, you can opt to have participants identified by their registered name and email. This is important to have enabled if you will be using Poll Everywhere for graded activities.
No matter which option you select, you can also allow participants to remain completely anonymous when answering.

Response settings allow you to customize how responses are recorded and how participants engage with responding.
