AI Companion Meeting Summary

Meeting summaries use the content of the meeting to generate a brief recap, next steps, and, depending on length, can also divide the summary into distinct sections by topic of discussion.

You also have the option to edit the AI-generated meeting summary for accuracy, share this summary of the meeting after it ends with participants, and can also delete it if needed.

Turn on AI Companion Meeting Summary

  1. Log into your UNLV Zoom account
  2. Select Settings on the left-hand navigation
  3. Choose the AI Companion tab

Access a Meeting Summary

A summary will be available in your account after the meeting it was generated for concludes. Keep in mind that meeting summaries are stored in the meeting host's account. Even if you were an alternative host or a co-host in the meeting, only the host will have it stored. However, the host can choose to share it later.

When accessing a summary post-meeting, you will have the option to view it, share it, and edit its contents. To access a summary;

  1. Log into your UNLV Zoom account
  2. On the left-hand navigation, select Summaries
  3. Click on the title for the meeting you wish to view the summary for
  4. After clicking on the summary, you can view it. If you wish to share it or delete it, select Share or Delete at the bottom of the summary

    share and delete

  5. To edit the summary, click directly on the text. This allows you to edit its contents, as well as format it with bold, italics, headers, bulleted lists, and more. Edits automatically apply without needing to save

Best Practices for Meeting Summary

Before the Meeting

In your Zoom account settings, under AI Companion > Meeting > Meeting Summary with AI Companion, check your sharing settings. We recommend having Only Me (Meeting Host) selected under Automatically Share Summary With. This ensures that the meeting summary will not be automatically sent out to others before you get the chance to view and edit it.

During a Meeting

To ensure that AI Companion summaries can provide the most accurate results:

  • Speak clearly, preferably using a headset or USB microphone
  • Attend the meeting from as quiet a location as possible to ensure clarity of audio for AI Companion
  • Remain on topic to prevent AI Companion from including irrelevant information in the Meeting Summary

After a Meeting

  • If you plan to share a Meeting Summary after a meeting, edit it to ensure accuracy
