Request UNLV GitLab Access

Please request access to the GitLab tenant if you do not already have access. Once approved, you will receive an email invitation to join the UNLV GitLab.

  1. Click the Join Now button from your invitation email.

  2. GitLab requires users to have a GitLab.com account, which is then connected to your UNLV privileged ACE account. You can either:
    • Use an existing GitLab.com account (which can be any email address, including your UNLV address or a personal email address).
    • Create a new GitLab.com account using your UNLV address.

Request Group Access from Your Department

After you have successfully accepted the UNLV GitLab invitation and connected or created an account, your account will have minimal access by default. You will be restricted from making changes to UNLV’s top-level group.

Contact your team/unit leadership to update your user role and request access to the groups or projects you need.

Log In to GitLab

Once you have accepted the UNLV GitLab invitation and connected an account, you can log in to the UNLV GitLab in two ways.

Troubleshooting

"User is not assigned to this application" Error

Okta window with the error message "User is not assigned to this application"

You may have logged in with your regular ACE account. To troubleshoot:

  1. Verify that you are logged in with a privileged ACE account:

    1. Log in to ace.unlv.edu

    2. Click your name in the upper right corner

    3. Click Settings

    4. Verify Okta username follows the firstname.lastname convention and User type says “Privileged”

Okta dashboard showing user account information. The Okta username is highlighted and annotated "username follow firstname.lastname convention". User type reads: Privileged

If you are logged in with a regular (non-privileged) ACE account:

  1. Create a separate browser profile and log in with your privileged ACE account (firstname.lastname).
  2. Alternatively, go to ace.unlv.edu, open the Account menu, select Sign Out, and sign in with the correct privileged ACE account.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may not have a privileged ACE account or GitLab access assigned. Contact the IT Help Desk for additional assistance.
