Limited Support
OIT cannot assist customers with content creation within Faculty Web. OIT can assist customers with accessing their cPanel, as well as basic troubleshooting within their hosting account.
By default, your hosting account will not have any applications installed. You'll need to install an app like WordPress to build a website online.
Installing WordPress
- Go to your Faculty Web Dashboard
- Select WordPress in the cPanel
- Select Install this application
- For security, change your domain to the HTTPS version of your domain by selecting the domain listed, then selecting the option starting with https://
- Leave the Directory (optional) field empty
- Most other settings may be left at their default. Options include:
- Version should be left default at the most recent version
- Content allows you to select a pre-generated template. Selecting Give me a clean WordPress install will generate a fully blank WordPress site.
- Accept the WordPress EULA
- Update settings should be left at their defaults to automatically update your site and plugins to the latest versions
- Administrator Username and Password are the preset administrator account for your WordPress site. You can login to WordPress from your Faculty Web Dashboard, so you won't need this information.
- Administrator Email should be your UNLVMail address
- Website Title and Tagline is the title and sub-title of your website. Most customers use their name as the title and either their field of study or purpose as the tagline.
- Leave Limit Login Attempts and Enable Multi-Site at their default settings
- Leave Advanced Setting Management to it's default setting
- Select Install to begin the install process
