Below you will find some helpful tips for wrapping up a course in WebCampus at the end of a semester. These tips will help make generating final grades easier, prepare your course for another semester, and assist students with any final tasks.
Items marked with * are optional and only apply if used in your course.
Grades
- Finalize your gradebook by making sure all grades are filled in
- Determine your grade calculation method
- Calculated Total: All assignments are weighted equally
- Weighted Total: All assignments are organized into assignment groups and a weighted percentage is assigned to each group
- Add extra credit points after all of the assignments have been graded*
- Review the grading scheme guide to set up percentage cutoffs. Depending on your department/college, you may see more than one grading scheme.
- Release Grades
- Ensure that the grade total column is viewable to students and that it is in the preferred format (such as points vs. percentage)
- Optionally, send an announcement to students requesting that they review their grades and to contact you with any questions
- Save a copy of your grades by exporting them from the Gradebook.
- Ensure you have access to MyUNLV by completing FERPA Training.
- Submit final grades to the Registrar via MyUNLV
Panopto*
- Prepare Panopto Videos for course copy.
Zoom*
- Ensure any Zoom recordings that need to be preserved are put into Panopto and into your My Folder or any relevant folders to avoid losing your videos. Recordings in Zoom expire after 270 days (~9 months).
- If you are planning to use any pre-recorded materials in future classes that reveal students’ identities, be sure to consult the University’s FERPA Guidelines.
Post Semester Student Course Access
Students have access to course content three weeks after the course end date listed in MyUNLV. If you would like to extend student access, you will need to submit a ticket to the IT Help Desk.
