MSDN Platforms provides administrative staff access to Microsoft software for development and testing purposes. MSDN is provided as an add-on with the purchase of Visual Studio.
Purchase MSDN Subscription
MSDN is an add-on option available to purchase with Visual Studio.
A UNLV-barcoded computer is required to purchase and install Visual Studio. If you purchase the MSDN add-on, you can install an additional copy of Visual Studio on a personal device from MSDN's website.
The following versions are available to quote for UNLV:
- Visual Studio Enterprise with MSDN
- Visual Studio Professional with MSDN
Pricing varies based on license type and when the purchase is executed. UNLV Staff may request a quote for Visual Studio with MSDN from UNLV IT by submitting a software request form.
Access MSDN Platforms
Step 1: Checking Office 365 Account
Before you can access MSDN Platforms, you must have an active Office 365 account using a UNLVMail email address.
You can check if you have an account by going to portal.office.com and signing in with your UNLVMail email address and your Office 365 password.
Your Office 365 password is not connected to your ACE account password, and may be different. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it it by selecting
Forgot my password during login, or by contacting the
IT Help Desk.
If you do not have an Office 365 account, you may self-enroll with your UNLVMail address.
Step 2: Acquire Access to MSDN
MSDN subscriptions are assigned to the user's Office 365 account using a UNLVMail email address.
- If you purchase Visual Studio with MSDN from UNLV IT, we will automatically assign the entitlements needed to your Office 365 account.
- If you purchase Visual Studio with MSDN without assistance from UNLV IT, you will need submit proof of purchase to UNLV IT to have your entitlements assigned.
Step 3: Login to MSDN Platforms
Once your entitlements have been assigned, you can access MSDN Platforms with your Office 365 account.
