Connecting for Residents

Overview

This service request is specific for residents living on UNLV campus. Request this service to connect either a wired or wireless device to UNLV's network.

Eligibility

To request this service, the device and user must be living on UNLV's Maryland campus in one of the residential halls.

Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Apogee Stream2 
  • Wireless Internet 
    • Eduroam - Laptops, Cell Phones, and Tablets
    • PSK - Connecting Streaming Devices to the UNLV-PSK Network
  • Wired Internet
  • Port Activation/Repair

The following devices are not allowed on UNLV's network:

  • IP/Cloud-based surveillance cameras without express written permission from UNLV's Police Services.
    • Please review UNLV's camera surveillance policy found here.
  • Servers
  • Routers

Note: This service does NOT support UNLV's Shadowlane Campus nor housing located adjacent to UNLV's Maryland Campus.

Getting Started

To request this service, please have the following information ready:

  • Know whether or not the device connection will be wired or wireless
  • Know what kind of device to be connected (Smart Home, Streaming, Gaming)
  • Know the MAC (Wired/Wireless) address of the device to be connected
    • You may follow this guide to locate the MAC address on the device. Please note this is not a complete list.
