Participating online can be done in two ways: you can use the Poll Everywhere mobile app, or you can simply access the activity via your browser. The functionality on both the app and browser is virtually the same on mobile or a laptop; the only differences are how you join the activity.
Joining the Activity
When a presenter activates the activity you’ll be participating in, you are presented with two ways to join.

- URL - Browser: You can type the provided URL into your browser.
- URL – App: If you are using the app, you will be prompted to enter the presenter’s username into the app, then select Join. If the URL is PollEv.com/Example, you would enter “Example” as the username to join. Note that usernames are case sensitive.

- Code: Use your phone to scan the provided QR code to join. This automatically redirects to your browser, even if the app is installed.
Participate in the Activity
Now that you’ve joined, you can engage with the activity. Because there are different activity types, let’s explore how to interact with each type.
Enter Your Name
If the presenter of the poll requires you to enter a name (i.e., you cannot participate anonymously), you will be prompted to enter a screen name before proceeding:

Multiple Choice
To answer a multiple choice question, select the answer choice you want to use. Depending on what settings the presenter has enabled, you may choose one or multiple choices. To delete a choice selection, select the trash can icon.

Entering Text
Some questions are free response. Depending on if the question type and prompt, you can type one word or up to 300 characters to respond.

Clickable Images
Select part of an image to drop a pin. To change the pin, select Clear Last Response.

Unable to See or Participate in Activity
If you can’t interact with the activity yet, this is likely because the presenter did not activate it yet. Once it is activated, you will be able to view and answer questions.

If the activity is active, but the option to type or select an answer is grayed out, the presenter most likely did not enable the option for participants to participate.
