RAVE (Rebel Announcements Via Email)

RAVE is a web-based application that allows UNLV employees to send university news and information to students according to their academic standing. Messages are queued and distributed once per week on Saturdays in an email titled “What’s Happening at UNLV,” with options to send them daily (Today) or more urgently (Immediately) if necessary qualifications are met. 

UNLV users can submit messages, which are then reviewed by staff in the department under which the message was submitted to ensure all messages follow the RAVE Guidelines. Sign in to RAVE with your ACE account.

Department reviewers must be approved by their department leadership (e.g., dean, vice provost, vice president, etc.). 

Viewing RAVE Messages

Anyone can view recently posted RAVE messages without signing in.

  1. Visit the RAVE website
  2. Click the View tab and select Last 7 days or Last 30 days
  3. Click an announcement title to view the full announcement. 


Submitting RAVE Messages

To submit a message for RAVE publication:

  1. Log in to RAVE using your ACE Account. 
  2. Click the Submit tab at the top of the page.
  3. Enter the message components:
    • Title*
    • Recipients* - Select the appropriate group by class standing
    • Content*
    • Link to additional information
    • Contact Info* - Enter contact information for students who want to find out more. A phone number is required. Contact information is published with the RAVE message. 
    • Submitter Info* - The submitter should enter their information in case there are any questions from the RAVE reviewers/moderators. Submitter information is not published. 
    • Category* - Select Announcement, Event, or Deadline.
    • Send* - The majority of messages should be sent in the Saturday digest. If there are unavoidable circumstances that require a message to be sent out on the same day, such as an event cancellation or unforeseen service impact, the Today option may be selected in accordance with the RAVE Guidelines. Otherwise, please plan to submit messages in advance of the Saturday RAVE publication date. 
    • Note to Reviewer: Include any additional comments or context if necessary. Reviewer notes are not published in RAVE messages. 
    • Your Department* - Select the relevant department for the message. If your department is not specifically listed, Academics (Provost Office) oversees most other departments’ submissions. 
  4. Click Submit
  5. If your submission is successful, you will see a confirmation screen.

Submission Errors

If you do not see the successful submission screen, please review the form and make sure all required elements have been completed. 

Additionally, RAVE messages have a 30-minute timeout limit. If you exceed the timeout limit, your submission will not be successful. OIT suggests composing messages in a document editor such as Google Docs or Microsoft Word and copying content when you are ready to submit it. 

Submission Deadlines

RAVE messages should be submitted by 5 p.m. on the Wednesday before the intended RAVE submission publication date in order to ensure that messages can be reviewed in a timely manner.

Troubleshooting Tips

Content exceeds the HTML characters allowed

  • Use the Clean HTML button on the edit bar to remove extraneous HTML formatting.
    Please the cursor on an empty line, with nothing selected, and click Clean HTML to remove extraneous formatting. Selecting text will remove all HTML formatting from the selected text, including desired formatting. 

  • If Clean HTML did not work, shorten the message to fit the message character requirements. . 

Invalid Format

The URL cannot end with special characters, such as an exclamation mark (!) or hash mark (#). Delete any special characters.
