Instructors who need to reuse or move Panopto content can utilize various copy tools within Panopto.
Before You Begin
Before you can move or copy content, instructors must perform the following:
- Before copying Panopto content, ensure Panopto is enabled in your WebCampus course and you have clicked on it to generate the folder in your course.
- Videos have been edited for FERPA compliance, such as removing or disguising any student participation
- Videos have been captioned per UNLV Accessibility Standards and Procedures.
- Reviewed all options for reusing Panopto content before proceeding with these instructions
Copying
Bulk Copy
Bulk Copy allows you to copy multiple videos in a folder at once, then move them to another folder. This option will creates reference copies of selected videos which can be moved independently to new locations. This option will also work to create reference copies when the source is your "My Folder."
- Go to WebCampus and open your source/sending course. If you want to copy from your "My Folder," select any WebCampus course.
- In the left navigation, select Panopto Recordings.
- If you do not see Panopto Recordings, you will need to activate it.
- Select Open in a new tab to launch the full version of Panopto.
- In the left navigation, confirm you are in the right folder. If you need to switch to your "My Folder," select My Folder.
- Select one, or multiple videos by clicking the box at the top left corner of each video
- Select the Copy icon
- Select the destination folder from the drop-down menu, or type in the name of the destination folder if it is not visible in the drop-down
- Select Copy
The copy process will complete automatically and generate reference copies in the requested folder. Any reference copy can become a full copy if you try to edit the content of the reference copy.te
Manual Copy
Manual Copy allows you to select a few videos to individually copy. This also provides the option to immediatly request a fully copy of a video. Manual copies can only be started one video at a time (not in bulk as above).
In addition to the below instructions, follow this video to copy and paste Panopto Videos. Then, move the videos altogether, instead of trying to move one at a time.
- Go to WebCampus and open your source/sending course. If you want to copy from your "My Folder," select any WebCampus course
- In the left navigation, select Panopto Recordings
- Locate the video you wish to copy and hover over the thumbnail
- Select the gear icon to access Settings
- In the left navigation, select Manage.
- In Copy video,
- Choose a name for the copy. By default, it will be the original title followed by "(copy)." This can be changed later.
- Select the destination/receiving folder for the copy. By default, this will select the folder the video is currently located
- Select...
- Create Reference Copy to generate a reference copy.
- Create Full Copy to generate a full, independent copy.
This will begin the copy process. Reference copies should be available within a few moments. Full copies will take longer while Panopto generates and processes the new video.
Moving Content
If you wish to move your content, such as moving the original video to a new folder/course, you can utilize the move tool.
Moving Single Videos
- Locate your video
- Hover your mouse over the video and select Settings. Videos that are reference copies will show a Reference copy icon
- In the left navigation, select Overview
- To the right of the current folder name, select Edit
- Select your folder from the drop-down menu, or start typing the name of your destination course folder
- Select Save
Moving Videos in Bulk
- Go to WebCampus and open your source/sending course. If you want to move from your "My Folder," select any WebCampus course.
- In the left navigation, select Panopto Recordings
- If you do not see Panopto Recordings, you will need to activate it
- Select Open in a new tab to launch the full version of Panopto
- In the left navigation, confirm you are in the right folder. If you need to switch to your "My Folder," select My Folder
- Select one, or multiple videos by clicking the box at the top left corner of each video
- Select the Move icon
- Select the destination folder from the drop-down menu, or type in the name of the destination folder if it is not visible in the drop-down
- Select Move
