User Guide: Extension Mobility

Extension Mobility

Summary

This document explains how to request and use the extension mobility service on a Cisco phone. The Extension Mobility service allows user settings to be temporarily loaded on a telephone. It is a great choice for people that work from more than one location, a shared space, or work different shifts in an office with one phone.

Applies To

UNLV Telecommunications customers.

When

The Extension Mobility feature can be used as needed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This feature can be requested 24 hours a day seven days a week. The Work Order Control Unit processes requests during university business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (excluding observed holidays).

Requirements

The following requirements must be met for the feature to work correctly:

  • A compatible Cisco phone 
  • Extension Mobility device profile assigned to a customer’s account
  • ACE ID
  • Extension Mobility PIN
  • Web browser

Procedures

Request the Feature

  1. Log into the web portal using your ACE ID and password.
  2. Select the Telecommunications tile from the Department Services.
  3. Select the Telecom Help Request tile.
  4. Select New from the Request Category list.
  5. Select Feature as the Service Type.
  6. Select Enable Cisco Extension Mobility as the Feature.
  7. Provide information to complete the submission form.
  8. Submit the request.

 

Create an Extension Mobility PIN

  1. Log into the self-service website using your ACE ID and password.
  2. Select the EM<ACE ID> device from the tiles.
  3. Navigate to the User Profile section on the left.
  4. Enter a six-digit Extension Mobility PIN number.
  5. Confirm the Extension Mobility PIN number.
  6. Select the submit button.

 

Log into the Extension Mobility Service

  1. Press the gear icon to open the Applications menu on a phone.
  2. Select the Extension Mobility Service.
  3. Enter your ACE ID in the UserID field.
  4. Enter your extension mobility pin number in the PIN field.
  5. Select the Submit button.
  6. You will see the message: Login Successful.
    1. The phone will reset and load your settings.

 

Log out of the Extension Mobility Service

Press the gear icon to open the Applications menu on a phone.
Select the Extension Mobility Service.
Select Yes to Logout.
You will see the message: Logout Successful.
The phone will reset and load the original settings.

 

Report a Problem with the Feature

  1. Log into the web portal using your ACE ID and password.
  2. Select the Telecommunications tile from the Department Services.
  3. Select the Telecom Help Request tile.
  4. Select Report a Problem from the Request Category list.
  5. Select Feature as the Service Type.
  6. Select Cisco Extension Mobility as the Feature.
  7. Provide information to complete the submission form.
  8. Submit the request.

 

Cancel the Feature

  1. Log into the web portal using your ACE ID and password.
  2. Select the Telecommunications tile from the Department Services.
  3. Select the Telecom Help Request tile.
  4. Select Cancel from the Request Category list.
  5. Select Feature as the Service Type.
  6. Select Disable Cisco Extension Mobility as the Feature.
  7. Provide information to complete the submission form.
  8. Submit the request.
