Blackboard |
Blackboard readers use swipe/proximity throughout various Student Life areas.
Though this system is not supported by Student Life Technology, SLT collaborates with OIT to request access modifications and serve as a liaison for resolving technical issues--ensuring a straightforward and effortless request process.
|
Onity |
Onity readers are often referred to as gray/silver "dip locks", they are most prevalent in Student Life areas. Uses a card's magnetic stripe to validate access on the card.
|
Salto |
Salto readers utilize proximity technology to verify card access by interacting with the chip embedded in the card, this is the newest card management system in Student Life. Cards will always need to be activated at the Rebel Repair Help Desk before use.

Getting Started
Please ensure that you complete the spreadsheet to indicate the specific individuals who require different types of access for each access control system necessary in Student Life facilities.
You will need the following information from the user:
- First/Last Name
- NSHE ID Number
- Template Name/Access Level needed for each system
Failure to provide this information will result in longer processing times.
Kindly note that if you, as the requestor, do not receive a completion notice, it means users might not be added or eligible for card encoding. Premature card encoding attempts will result in redirection to the original requestor for assistance.
Card Encoding
Once the access request is processed, cards become eligible for encoding, and the requestor will receive a notification upon completion. Please be aware that if you do not receive a completion notice as the requestor, users may not be in the system yet/eligible to have their cards encoded or the request is still being processed.
The encoding enables access for Salto and Onity access control systems.
