Getting Started with UNLV Enterprise Slack

UNLV Enterprise Slack is a communication and collaboration platform for the UNLV community. Enterprise Grid allows a large organization to have many connected Slack workspaces in one centrally managed, collaborative Slack environment.

Log In to UNLV Enterprise Slack

UNLV Enterprise Slack uses your UNLV ACE account. The UNLV Enterprise Slack URL is https://unlv.enterprise.slack.com/

1. Go to https://unlv.enterprise.slack.com/.
2. Select the Sign in with NSHE-UNLV Okta option to sign in.
   
   
    
3. Use your UNLV ACE account credentials and complete multifactor authentication, if necessary.

After logging in, you will see workspaces where you are a member, followed by other UNLV workspaces that you may request to join.


 

Using UNLV’s Enterprise Slack Workspaces

UNLV Enterprise Slack includes several communication spaces.

• Workspaces: A workspace is a large area within Slack where groups of people communicate and collaborate. In an Enterprise Grid environment, users may have access to many workspaces.
• Channels: Channels are shared spaces for conversations. Channels are usually organized by topic, team, project, department, event, or community.
• Multi-Workspace Channels: Multi-workspace channels allow people from different workspaces in the same Enterprise Grid organization to collaborate in one channel. These can be useful for cross-department or institution-wide work.
• Organization-Wide Channels: Some channels may be available across the Enterprise Grid organization. These are typically used for broad announcements or information that applies to a large audience.
• Direct Messages: Direct messages, also called DMs, are private conversations between individuals or small groups. 
   

Navigating Workspaces

The workspace selection dropdown lets you view channels in a single workspace or across all your workspaces.

1. Click the name of your workspace in the top left corner
2. Hover over the UNLV Enterprise menu to see the workspaces where you are a member
3. Select All Workspaces or an individual workspace 
   
   
    

Using the "All Workspaces" View

When "All Workspaces" is selected, the workspace name appears next to the channel name for identical channels across multiple workspaces (e.g., #announcements).

Viewing An Individual Workspace

If you are viewing a single workspace, open the workspace menu to see if there are unread notifications in other workspaces, indicated by a colored dot.

View the Workspace Directory

See all your workspaces and find other workspaces at the UNLV Enterprise directory.

• Visit https://unlv.enterprise.slack.com/
• Alternatively, inside Slack, open the Workspace menu and select Join or leave workspaces to open the directory.
