The Whiteboard can be a collaborative (or view-only) tool where Hosts and/or Participants can draw, type, and add shapes and sticky notes, and share templates for activities to create more engaging classes and meetings. Whiteboards can also be saved for future meetings
Launching a Whiteboard
- To launch a Whiteboard, select the Whiteboard control on your Zoom menu bar. If you cannot see it, select More on your Zoom menu bar and then hover over Whiteboard
- When hovering over Whiteboard or selecting the icon, you have three options:
- Start a New Whiteboard
- Access Existing Whiteboards
- Browse Share Whiteboard Options to view settings and share options

Using a Whiteboard
After launching a Whiteboard, it will show up in another tab in your Zoom Workplace window.

There are many tools to use with a whiteboard to customize it.

- Select the Draw (pencil icon) option to use a digital pen to draw or write
- Use the Shape (shape icon) option to add premade shapes that you can type in
- Use the Line (line icon) option to add lines to the board with a premade line tool
- Use the Text (“T” icon) option to use the textbox feature to add text in any size
- Use the Sticky Note (post-it note icon) to add sticky notes to the board. You have the option to add text in sticky notes
- Use the Comment (speech bubble icon) to add comments to the board
- Use the Frames (square icon) option to add frames around content on the board
- Use the Templates (table icon) option to add a premade template to your whiteboard, such as a storyboard or a Venn diagram
- Use the Upload (upward arrow icon) option to import an external image or PDF to the board
- Use the More Tools (symbols icon) option to add unique additions to the whiteboard, such as tables and Kanban boards
- Use the AI Companion (two, four-pointed stars icon) option to generate content
Sharing and Exporting a Whiteboard in a Meeting
There are some options to both preserve and share a Whiteboard that was created during a meeting.
Sharing a Whiteboard
To share a Whiteboard:
- At the top of the whiteboard, select Share

- In the Contact or Email bar, enter the UNLV Mail (@unlv.edu) or RebelMail (@unlv.nevada.edu) address of who you want to share the Whiteboard with

- Select whether you want them to be a Co-Owner, Editor, Commenter, or Viewer of the Whiteboard
- If you want to allow the person you are sharing the Whiteboard with the share it to people they know, select the Anyone Can Share At or Below Their Level
- If you want, type in a brief message to inform the user why or what you are sharing
- Select Share Whiteboard

Depending on their access to the Whiteboard, the person you share it with can collaborate with you on it, comment on it, or view it outside of a Zoom meeting.
Export a Whiteboard
To export a Whiteboard as a file:
- Select the three vertical lines at the top of the Whiteboard
- Select Export
- Select whether you want to export the Whiteboard as a PDF, PNG, or CSV
