Turnitin is a plagiarism prevention tool available in WebCampus. Instructors have two options for using Turnitin in WebCampus:
- Turnitin Plagiarism Framework (recommended) that allows instructors to use Canvas' assignment grading features in lieu of Turnitin's Feedback Studio.
- Turnitin LTI 1.3 that allows instructors to use Turnitin's Feedback Studio features for grading and reviewing papers. (We updated the Turnitin LTI to 1.3 in December 2025. See the LTI 1.3 instructions below for more information)
Instructors should choose only ONE option for Turnitin. To help you decide which integration method to choose, please visit the
Turnitin Canvas integration matrix for a comparison of features for the Plagiarism Framework and LTI External Tool.
Note: An AI Detection tool is an additional cost and is not part of our current Turnitin license.

The Turnitin LTI was upgraded from 1.1 to 1.3 in December 2025. All existing Turnitin LTI assignments are automatically converted over to a Classic Standard Assignment once it is launched in your course, but the steps for creating a new assignment has changed.
To create a new Turnitin LTI 1.3 Standard Assignment: Click on Assignments in Canvas, then click on the 3 dots to the right of +Assignments and select Turnitin. See the LTI 1.3 Quickstart Guide linked below for more information.
