Now that you have recorded your Panopto video assignment(s), you are ready to submit! There are two ways for you to submit a video in Panopto: as an embedded video in the discussion or textbox, or via the Panopto Recordings tab, which is a direct upload. We will take a look at both here in this article, depending on how you need to submit your video.
Submit a Panopto Video in a Discussion Post or Textbox Assignment
For many courses, your instructor will want you to submit a Panopto recording in either a discussion post or an assignment submission. In both cases, you embed the video in a textbox. Both of these require use of the Panopto LTI, which you can access in the rich text editor (RTE). The LTI allows you to insert the video directly into the post or the textbox.
To access the LTI:
- Open the discussion or assignment
- Select the Panopto icon in the RTE

- You will have three options for adding content to the textbox.
- Choose: Choose a video you have recorded to the course folder. This option is only available if you have a video directly in the Assignment Folder—not any subfolders.
- Upload: Upload a media file from your device into Panopto.
- Record: Record a brand-new video using the software or Panopto Capture.

- Once you have chosen, uploaded, or recorded the video, select Insert

- The video will appear in the textbox. You can then reply to the discussion or submit the assignment
NOTE: All videos recorded via the LTI are stored in a folder called “Student Submissions,” a subfolder of the Assignment Folder. Any videos in this folder cannot be edited, moved, or deleted by you, the student, after it is submitted.
Submit by Direct Uploading into the Panopto Recordings Tab
In some courses, you may be required to record or upload videos directly into the course’s Assignment Folder.
To do this, you would access the Panopto Recordings tab. If this tab is enabled, it will appear on the left-hand navigation of your WebCampus course page.

Once you have accessed the Panopto Recordings tab:
- Select the Create button. You can:
- Panopto for Windows (or Mac): Use the software (Panopto for Windows/Mac)
- Panopto Capture: Record in Panopto Capture, or;
- Upload Media: Upload a media file from your device

- Unlike the LTI, you do not have to manually insert a video. Any video that is recorded or uploaded will go directly into the Assignment Folder once it successfully finishes recording or uploading. No action is needed on your part after recording/uploading

NOTE: Unlike recording in the LTI, where all videos go to the “Student Submissions” subfolder, all videos recorded from the Panopto Recordings tab will go directly to the Assignment Folder. Furthermore, videos recorded into the Assignment Folder
can be edited, renamed, deleted, etc.

What if I Need to Submit a Direct Upload via Textbox?
If you have recorded your video and had it directly uploaded to the assignment folder, you may still need to formally submit it, depending on the assignment.
Though you uploaded your video directly, submitting it by embedding it in a textbox will result in losing certain permissions, such as editing and deleting.
Even if you did not yet post the discussion post or submit the textbox, you will lose these permissions as soon as the video is inserted into the textbox. Make sure that you caption, trim, or otherwise edit the video before embedding it. There is no way, aside from creating a new video by direct upload, to make any changes once the video is embedded.
