Slack Enterprise Migration Email and Slack Channel Communication

This communication should be sent approximately 2–4 weeks prior to the migration date. Send the message via email to all users and guests, and post it in the workspace’s #announcements or #general channel to notify users of the upcoming migration to Slack Enterprise Grid and expected downtime.

Email Message (Send from a Workspace Owner)

Subject: Slack Update: We’re moving to the UNLV Slack Grid

Slack’s Enterprise Grid is coming to UNLV. It’s a campuswide setup that brings Slack workspaces together in one place, making collaboration across campus better while offering stronger security and centralized support.

Migration Details

Transitioning to Enterprise Grid requires moving existing Slack workspaces into the UNLV Grid. Our team workspace will be migrating on the following schedule:

  • Workspace: [name/URL]
  • Migration date: [day/date]
  • Migration start: [time/timezone]
  • Migration end (estimated): [time/timezone]
Important: Slack will be unavailable during the scheduled migration window. This includes Slack Connect direct messages and channels connected with users in other workspaces.

What to Expect After the Migration

  • You will receive an email from Slack (feedback@slack.com) titled “Your workspace has joined an organization” when access is restored.
  • Instructions for signing in with your ACE account will be provided before the migration.
  • Guest users will continue to sign in using their email and password.
  • All workspace functionality will remain the same, including:
    • Slack Connect channels
    • Integrations and apps
    • Workflows

  • Guest users will continue to sign in using their email and password.
