Creating Assignments in Poll Everywhere

This Knowledge Base article is part of a series on using Poll Everywhere in WebCampus. Please see Adding Poll Everywhere to Your Course, Managing Courses in Poll Everywhere for WebCampus, and Grading in Poll Everywhere for more information on navigating the interface.

Start Creating an Assignment

After you have accessed the course you wish to create assignments for, select Add New Assignment. You will have the following options:

a) Assignment Name; b) Participation/Correctness Grades; c) Save

  1. Assignment Name: Name the assignment. You will not be able to save unless you provide a name for the assignment
  2. Participation/Correctness: Depending on how you want students to be graded, toggle on either (or both) options. The Participation option awards points for just answering, whereas Correctness awards points based on whether the student selected the right answer. For more information on customizing participation and correctness, please see Understanding Participation and Correctness Grading Options.
  3. Save: Once you have finished customizing the assignment, make sure to save it. Saving the assignment will add it to your course

Setting Up Activities to be Added to an Assignment

Now that the assignment was created, it will appear in your course in Poll Everywhere. In order for the assignment to send grades to the WebCampus gradebook, however, you must add activities to the assignment. But, before you add activities, ensure that your activities are set up correctly to ensure a smooth experience for students and grading.

Registration

In order for activities to be graded, you must have registration required for each activity. This can be configured under Audience Restriction and Identity, which you are able to access when editing an activity.

Grouping

In line with recommendations made in Presenting Activities in the Web Portal for presenting multiple activities, we recommend grouping all activities you use in a single assignment into a folder so you can present them to students seamlessly.

However, if you are presenting via PowerPoint, you do not need to do this as activities can be added to slides and are automatically activated/deactivated as you progress.

Add Activities to an Assignment
