Guest Accounts

There may be times a user who is not a Student or Faculty/Staff member who needs access to University resources. These users are referred to as guests and may include vendors, contractors, guest faculty, external researchers, and other guests.  A full-time Faculty or Staff member can request an ACE Account for these users for an approved justification.

Available Access

Generally, Guest Accounts can have access to the same resources as a normal ACE Account. However, Guest Accounts do not receive all University resources by default and must be included on the request for a Guest Account.

The following resources can be requested for a Guest Account:

  • UNLVMail
  • Network Drives (Sponsor must request access to specific folders)
  • WebCampus
  • Guest Wireless for more than 30-days
  • Office Computer Access (not Computer Labs)
  • VPN

Non-UNLV NSHE Students, UNLV OLLI Students, and Visiting Researchers or Scholars, may request these services, but an access charge may apply:

  • Computer Labs
  • Library Access (OLLI are not eligible for library access)

Requesting New Guest Accounts

A Guest Account can be requested for any not actively affiliated user of UNLV (not a current student or employee)

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) Students Contact the IT Help Desk and provide proof of enrollment $20 per semester, includes access to Computer Labs only (the library no longer provides access)
Visiting Researcher or Scholar Sponsoring UNLV Faculty or Staff member submits a New Guest Account request form Generally no charge
Vendors or Contractors Sponsoring UNLV Faculty or Staff member submits a New Guest Account request form Generally no charge
Bulk Requests (more than three (3) accounts) Contact the IT Help Desk for assistance Generally no charge, unless Computer Labs or Library Access is requested
All Other Requests Sponsoring UNLV Faculty or Staff member submits a New Guest Account request form Generally no charge, unless Computer Labs or Library Access is requested

Renewing Guest Access

Guest Accounts are valid for a maximum of one year. However, it is possible to renew this period through a renewal process. Both the sponsor and the guest will receive notifications as the account approaches its expiration date. To renew a Guest Account, a request must be submitted. The renewal is contingent upon the approval of the sponsor. It's important to note that the renewal process does not require approval from either the IT Security Office or the Dean/Director.
