Downloading and Installing Panopto for Windows or Mac

Panopto for Windows or Mac is a native application that allows users to create recordings within Panopto. Panopto for Windows or Mac can record multiple streams at the same time, including video, audio, and on-screen content.

Requirements

In order to install Panopto on your device, your device must meet the following requirements

  Windows Devices macOS Devices
OS Version Windows 10 or later Latest version of macOS
Hardware

Standard Quality: Intel i3 recommended

High or Ultra Quality: Intel i7 (4-core) recommended

Two or more secondary sources: This recording requires intensive resources. Users should test their configuration prior to actual recording.

Standard Quality: Any Mac hardware, which any of the supported OS versions runs.

High Quality: Any Mac hardware, which any of the supported OS versions runs and has Intel Core i7 or Apple M1 (or later) CPU. This includes a Primary audio and video stream and a single secondary video (screen capture)

Ultra Quality and/or two secondary sources: This recording requires intensive resources. Users should test their configuration prior to actual recording.

Memory 4 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended 8 GB
Storage

Note: Once recordings are uploaded, storage can be recovered

Standard Quality: 135MB per recorded hour

High Quality: 540MB per recorded hour

Standard Quality: 2GB per recorded hour

High Quality: 4GB per recorded hour

Applications Latest version of PowerPoint Latest version of PowerPoint or Keynote
Audio and Video Any built-in or USB connected camera or microphone. External devices are recommended for higher quality recordings

Downloading Panopto

You can download Panopto for Windows or Mac from WebCampus (recommended) or Panopto directly.

WebCampus Download

  1. Open WebCampus, then open your course. On the left navigation, select Panopto Recordings. Select Create, then select Panopto for Windows or Ma​​​​​​c. If you are a student, you may need to open the assignment folder before you see the Create button.


     
  2. Select Download Panopto (a). If the system did not detect your platform, select Click here for other download options (b) and then select the proper installer.

  3. Once the file downloads, run it and follow the instructions to install the software.

Panopto Direct Download

  1. Go to unlv.hosted.panopto.com.
  2. Select UNLV Canvas Site.

  3. Enter your ACE credentials.
  4. Select Create button on the left side, and then select Panopto for Windows or Panopto for Mac
  5. Select Download Installer for your device

  6. Run the downloaded file and follow the instructions to complete installation on your device.
